Christina MarÃa Aguilera (born December 18, 1980 in Staten Island, New York, USA) is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, television personality, and actress.
Her father, Fausto Xavier Aguilera, was a soldier in the US Army, while her mother, Shelly Loraine (nÃ©e Fidler), was a violinist and pianist. Her father is Ecuadorian and her mother, who is American, is of German, Irish, Welsh, and Dutch ancestry.
Aguilera sang the "The Star-Spangled Banner" at parties in her hometown, leading her to appear on national television as a contestant on Star Search in early 1990. She also later starred in The Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1994.
Christina Aguilera is a bilingual singer mixed with Irish and Ecuadorian roots. Her self titled debut album went 10x platinum. She has received many honors including 6 Grammy Nominations and one win for Best New Artist. 2 MTV Video Music Awards, a Radio Music Awards, 2 VH1 Awards, and a Teen Choice Award with Kimberly 'Lil' Kim' Jones, Mya and Pink and the smash hit "Lady Maramalade".
